Andreas Harsono dari Human Rights Watch Jakarta sedang melakukan penelitian mengenai kekerasan berbasis agama terhadap minoritas seksual dan agama.

Dalam rangka itu, senyampang dia berada di Surabaya, dia ingin melakukan diskusi dengan para aktivis HAM di dua bidang itu yang dilakukan di kantor GAYa NUSANTARA.

A Call to Stand Up against Growing Discrimination towards LGBT Individuals in Indonesia – and across Our Region

Mengutip pernyataan dari APCOM mengenai isu LGBT di Indonesia.

“BANGKOK, 1 March 2016 — APCOM On this Zero Discrimination Day, APCOM, stands with the international community in expressing its strong concern over the recent unprecedented, sustained attacks against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals in Indonesia.  This comes at a time of growing discrimination towards LGBT communities in several other countries – a trend that APCOM, along with partners across civil society, strongly deplores.

The unparalleled collective derision towards sexual minorities across Indonesia began when the Higher Education Minister, Muhammad Nasir, called for a ban on LGBT individuals from attending universities because they clashed, in his words, with the country’s “standards of values and morals”. The Indonesian Ulama Council, the nation’s highest Muslim clerical body, then called for legislation banning “LGBT activities” nationwide. Zulkifli Hasan, chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly, stated that being LGBT was “at odds with Indonesian culture”. Most recently, Defence Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu has likened the LGBT movement to “modern warfare” that formed a threat to national sovereignty. Hari Solidaritas LGBTIQ Nasional

Tanggal 1 Maret sebagai Hari Solidaritas LGBTIQ Nasional telah dideklarasikan oleh kawan-kawan Indonesian Gay Society (IGS) Yogyakarta pada tanggal 17 Maret 2000 di Lembaga Indonesia-Perancis, Yogyakarta. Deklarasi ini digelar dalam sebuah acara sederhana namun meriah yang dihadiri oleh sekitar 100 orang gay, lesbian dan kawan-kawan simpatisan dari berbagai kalangan. Tanggal 1 Maret diambil karena pada tanggal tersebut di 1982 berdirilah organisasi gay pertama di Indonesia, Lambda Indonesia.

Sesungguhnya sebelum Lambda Indonesia, telah berdiri berbagai organisasi wadam/waria. Yang pertama, Himpunan Wadam Djakarta (HIWAD), berdiri pada tahun 1973, namun sepengetahuan kami tidak ada yang tahu tanggal berapa organisasi ini didirikan. Continue reading “Hari Solidaritas LGBTIQ Nasional”
